Therapy for LGBTQ+ Individuals

In-Person Therapy on Cap Hill

LGBTQ+ individuals face specific structural and social challenges that compound the standard stress of daily life and career advancement. Operating in corporate or really any space that requires chronic code-switching and identity management, can lead to mental and physical exhaustion over time.

Additionally, balancing your identity alongside deep-rooted cultural and family expectations introduces another significant layer of complexity. Confronting the conflict between who you are and what your family expects often brings up intense feelings of shame and fear.

As a gay man, I have a unique understanding of the added layers of minority stress that LGBTQ+ individuals face, from code-switching at work, to exploring your sexual identity, and balancing family needs against your own, I’ve been there.

This practice provides an affirming environment to explore these complex topics. Drawing on evidence-based models like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), we focus on actionable methods to reduce anxiety, process shame, and establish secure boundaries. We will evaluate unhealthy coping mechanisms and work on practical steps to help you operate authentically. Honoring your cultural background is a core part of this work. Together, we can explore the various facets of your identity and help make decisions that feel authentic and true to who you want to be.

"All young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to achieve their full potential."
