Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Therapy Right for Me?

Therapy is a powerful tool for growth, healing, and self-discovery. It can be incredibly beneficial if you're experiencing a difficult time.

While I can't definitively say if therapy is "right" for you without a conversation, I can tell you what makes therapy effective for most people: a willingness to explore, a desire for change, and a commitment to the process. Many clients find that even just one or two sessions can provide valuable insights and a sense of direction. I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation, which is a great, no-pressure way for us to connect, discuss your unique needs, and see if my approach aligns with your goals. Ultimately, deciding if therapy is right for you is a personal journey that I can support you through.

  • How Does a Sliding Scale Spot Work?

I believe that quality mental health care should be accessible, and I understand that financial considerations can sometimes be a barrier. That's why I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots. A sliding scale allows for a reduced fee based on your income and financial circumstances.

If you are interested in a sliding scale spot, please mention it during your initial contact or consultation. We will discuss your current financial situation confidentially to determine an appropriate fee. To ensure fairness and availability for as many individuals as possible, each sliding scale arrangement is set for a six-month period. At the end of this term, we will reassess your financial situation and work collaboratively towards transitioning to the full rate if your circumstances have improved. This allows for a structured path towards sustainable support while also making space for others in need.

  • How Often Will We Meet?

The frequency of our sessions is a collaborative decision, tailored to your unique needs, goals, and the nature of what brings you to therapy. For many clients, especially at the beginning of their therapeutic journey, weekly sessions are most effective. This regular cadence provides consistent support, builds momentum, and allows for deeper exploration of the issues at hand.

As we progress and you start to feel more confident in managing your challenges or have achieved some of your initial goals, we might then discuss shifting to bi-weekly sessions. Ultimately, the goal is to find a rhythm that feels right for you and supports your progress towards lasting well-being. We will regularly check in about what feels most beneficial for you throughout our time together.

  • Is Your Office Wheelchair Accessible or Do You Have Elevator Access?

My office is located on the second floor of a home built in 1905, and is only accessible via stairs. We do not have an elevator or ramp. If stair access is a concern for you, I am happy to offer telehealth (video) sessions as an alternative.
