Helping You Find Calm and Confidence

I know taking the first step towards seeking mental health support is significant, and often the hardest part. I recognize the effort it took, and I’m glad you're here.

SENTIR is the Spanish verb meaning to feel, sense, or experience. I believe this perfectly captures the essence of what therapy can offer individuals in high stress environments who are often rewarded for being logical and pushing feelings aside.

Demanding schedules at work or school often leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, our loved ones and what truly matters. This can lead to high-functioning anxiety, depression, burnout or resentment.

My approach to therapy is about more than managing these challenges; it’s about reconnecting with your inner landscape, understanding its complexities, and learning to navigate it with confidence.

  • People seek academic and career counseling for a variety of reasons, often feeling stuck, unfulfilled, or facing significant transitions or uncertainties. Whether you're navigating academic stress, burnout, a job loss or career change, exploring these challenges in therapy can provide valuable insights. Together, we can identify your values, strengths, and interests to help you move forward with confidence.

  • You're successful, but you're fueled by a constant 'what-if' engine, perfectionism, and a fear of failure? While occasional anxiety is normal, persistent or overwhelming anxiety can significantly impact daily life. We can work to quiet the inner critic and find a sustainable sense of calm.

  • Depression is more than just feeling sad; it's a persistent state of low mood, loss of interest, and often a lack of energy that can significantly impair daily functioning. It can affect your thoughts, feelings, behavior, and even physical health. I offer compassionate support to help you understand the roots of your depression and develop strategies to regain hope and find a path toward healing and well-being.

  • I help men navigate the unique pressures of high-stress careers, societal expectations of masculinity, and challenges in emotional expression and vulnerability. Therapy offers a safe and confidential space to explore these experiences, challenge limiting beliefs, and develop greater self-awareness and healthier coping strategies.

  • The Latin community has a rich tapestry of cultural values, traditions, and strengths, yet also faces unique challenges when persuing careers. I offer culturally sensitive therapy to explore challenges like acculturation, immigration, discrimination, and intergenerational family dynamics. I also offer therapy in Spanish for clients who may feel more comfortable communicating in their native language.

  • As a gay man, I have a unique understanding of the added layers of minority stress that LGBTQ+ individuals face, from code-switching, to navigating identity in corporate spaces. I provide a safe, affirming, and understanding environment to explore these issues, address any related mental health concerns, and support you in living authentically and with pride.

  • Navigating the complexities of relationships can be challenging in high stress environments. Difficulties can arise in partnerships, families, or friendships, leading to conflict, disconnection, and distress. I help individuals and couples improve communication, set boundaries, and rebuild connection.

What to Expect From Counseling

In our first session, we'll explore what's been happening in your life that has brought you to therapy now, and what you're hoping to gain from our work together. We'll discuss your goals and what success looks like. This will help focus our efforts and guide our journey together. At the heart of our work is creating a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, accepted, and comfortable enough to be curious and explore all aspects of yourself.
